All the latest about HRB, read about the studio updates, fund raising and more.
Closing Down. There have been instances lately when the studios have not been shut down properly. If you are the last person on air, please ensure that the on-air button is switched off before turning the power off. If you are the last person out of the door, please ensure that the alarm is on and the door is closed properly. StudioA dual CD player has been installed in Studio 1. As this seemed popular I purchased another for Studio 2. However the first one developed a fault – the left hand CD kept sticking – so it has been returned, and the one for Studio 2 is now in Studio 1. (By the way, Studio 1 is the large, on air studio, Studio 2 is the small, production studio. The numbers used to be the other way round, for reasons that I never understood.) A pair of new headphones have been purchased and they seem to be ok. If after a few weeks they haven't fallen to pieces, I'll get some more and get rid of the old ones. I've also fitted an anti-vibration clamp to mic 1 in Studio 1, again if it survives a few weeks I'll get some for all the mics. Fund RaisingThanks to everyone who helped at the Friends Fete, especially the putter uppers and taker downers. Including the buckets we took £126 on the HRB stall, still waiting for the figures for the whole fete. Remember that Potters Bar carnival and QE Boys are coming up. We need more fund raising ideas – how to raise a lot of money with little effort! We are hoping to have a collection at Barnet Football Club next season, but that is still in the planning stage. If it comes off, we will need plenty of members to shake buckets. New Web SiteThe new web site is up and running. Everyone seems to like it (at least, no-one has mentioned to me that they don't....). It took a while to get there, and the transfer over wasn't as smooth as it should have been, mainly because ownership if the domain name was transferred at the same time. But its there now and looking good. 30th BirthdayI haven't received any ideas for HRBs 30th. It would be nice to do something each month, but it needs ideas and people who can run them. Thinking caps on.....
